Great Gifts For Therapists: Tried & Tested
As a therapist in Los Angeles, here are some of ideas for presents this holiday season that we've tried and tested against the TikTok trends, or have just seen and loved
You've entered 'great gifts for therapists' in your search engine, presumably because you care and because, well you're probably wondering what the heck they would want? A lot of us rely on our mental health providers, psychologists, and counselors to assist us through tough periods. It's a surprisingly tough job, speaking for myself, undoubtedly it's rewarding, but it's absolutely exhausting.
If you're not buying for your own counselor but a friend who is a psychologist or clinician, it's still safe to assume their workdays are filled with some emotional labor. Recognizing all these factors, you might feel the urge to express your appreciation for mental health professionals, and we fully support that!
However, finding a way to do so that doesn’t come off as awkward can be tricky.
If you're looking for gift for a clinician in your life, be it your own therapist or someone you know who happens to be a clinician, look no further. We decided to look through what gift ideas were popular on TikTok and give you alternatives that they might not have already. Whatever you decide to go with, know that anything you give will be enjoyed as a beautiful token of your appreciation
Find out some of our other ideas that make a good gift for a therapist here, and we have some thoughts on the ethics of giving mental health therapists a present.
Side note: the perfect gift for any therapist, at any time of year is a copy of our new feelings wheel.
#1: Inner Work and Shadow Journaling
I don't know about you but these inner work and shadow journal books have been blowing up my FYP for months now and with the Holidays coming, I suspect someone smart is going up their marketing budget. But if you really want the good stuff on working with your unconscious you have to go to the master of all of this, Robert A Johnson. His books are wonderful and practical and filled with really rich material.

#2 Essential Oils and Diffusers
Some therapists love essential oils and have them spreading some calming fragrances like lavender or eucalyptus all day. For Holiday Gift Ideas, Tiktok is pushing a really cool-looking one that looks like a fireplace, but it's REALLY loud, so I'd instead invest in a more expensive one that isn't quite so intrusive. At my office we have the Vitruvi Blend Kit going all year.
TIKTOK GIFT TRENDS
I've seen this all over TikTok and fell for it, I mean, it looks really cool! I do like it but think it's too loud for a therapist's office. Definitely a wonderful for someone else though but patients will be distracted with this.
TRIED AND TESTED:
This Glowing Diffuser from Vitruvi is delightful, cute and makes for a much more cozy gift for a therapists office. Plus they have delicious Vitruvi Blends that are a lovely gift for a counselor this Holiday Season.

Clocks and Watches for The Time-Conscious

Some psychologists and therapists have letters after their name, and you might think we just like to show these off because we have enormous student loans to show for them, but actually it's a requirement that we display them. Consider a plaque or some of these frames

What are some good gifts for therapists that are budget-friendly?
If you're looking for a thoughtful and budget-friendly gift for your therapist, you're on the right track! Showing appreciation for their hard work and dedication can go a long way in strengthening the therapeutic relationship. Here are some great nifty ideas that won't break the bank:
1. Personalized stationery: A set of personalized notepads or note cards can be a practical and meaningful gift. Therapists often take notes during sessions, and having personalized stationery adds a nice touch.
2. Coffee or tea gift set: Many therapists enjoy a hot beverage to start their day or during breaks. Consider putting together a gift set with a selection of gourmet coffee or tea, a mug, and some tasty treats to accompany their drink. You could even think about a mug warmer or personalized tumbler.
3. A gratitude journal: Encourage your therapist to take care of their mental well-being by giving them a gratitude journal. It's a thoughtful gift that allows them to reflect on the positive aspects of their life and work.
4. A book related to their field: Find a well-regarded book in their area of expertise or something related to mental health. It shows that you value their professional knowledge and interests. Perhaps even a coloring book with some color pencils
5. A potted plant: Bringing some greenery into their workspace can create a calming and welcoming environment. Opt for a low-maintenance plant, like a succulent or a small peace lily, that can thrive in an office setting.
6. Homemade treats: If you enjoy baking or cooking, consider making some homemade treats for your therapist.
7. A privacy sign or 'do not disturb' banner for the back of their door?
